Access - Virtual Application - Creating new Database Error
How to resolve the issue creating a new database when using the virtual Access application.
When using Access through virtual.uwlax.edu you may run into an issue creating a new Access database. You will see an error like the below:
This error prevents the database from being stored in a place that you would not be able to retrieve later. This application is run on a number of computers and you may not connect to the same one again.
In order to create the database, you need to first change the location where the database will be stored.
You can start by clicking on the Folder icon
Then click on This PC from the left column. If you scroll down, you will be presented with one or two options depending on if you are using Access through a web browser or the VMWare Horizon client.
The first option is the U-drive (U:) which is your personal network storage.
The second option is your files on your personal computer (Z:). This option is only available if using the VMWare Horizon client.
Save your Access database in one of those two locations, and you should be able to save and edit your database normally.
If you continue to have issues, you can also utilize Access by using the General Desktop at virtual.uwlax.edu
