Administrative Roles

1. Unrestricted – this is the role for most users seeking administrative data. This will provide viewer access to any reports and dashboards published in unrestricted divisions and departments. A list of unrestricted divisions and departments can be found in Appendix 1 of this document. If a user’s unit is not in this listing, the user will need to request the Restricted role.
2. Restricted – this role includes the same access as the Unrestricted role and will also provide view access to central administration accounts not included in the unrestricted group. This role requires Controller and Budget Director approval.
3. Developer – this role is for special users to provides access to all divisions and departments across the institution, as well as the ability to publish new reports and dashboards. It requires the same approval as the Restricted role, as well as approval by the Tableau Site administrators.
4. Developer - Dev – this role provides access to the Tableau Development site. This site can be used for testing and learning purposes.
   

Administrative role access requests are reviewed by the Budget Office.

In order to request any of the access roles listed above, submit a HelpDesk ticket through ITS. The request type will be “I have a request” and the subtype will be “Tableau Access Request”. Please specify the type of role or roles you are requesting from the above lists using the check boxes provided.

Access requests will be reviewed by the Tableau System Administrators and you will receive a notification from the HelpDesk when your access request ticket is resolved. Multiple roles can be requested within a single HelpDesk ticket.
