Student Personal Identification Number (PIN) 

1. Log into your WINGS account.

2. The FERPA Secure PIN settings can be located in WINGS under the Menu by going to UW-LaCrosse > FERPA Secure PIN> Set/Update FERPA Secure PIN. 

3. In order to continue to set your own FERPA Secure PIN as a student, review the information about FERPA on the page and then check the box stating "I Accept These Terms."

4. Your name and student ID number should appear in the box. Select Set PIN for a six-digit number to be generated next to PIN. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and select Save to save your PIN that you have generated for yourself. 

• *Note: You can always change your PIN by selecting Set PIN again and then Save.

Guest Personal Identification Number (PIN)

*Note: Guests do not have access to WINGS and will not log into WINGS with the guest FERPA Secure PIN, but this PIN will allow guests to contact departments on the behalf of the student. 

1. If you have not done so yet or are currently not logged in, then log into your WINGS account.

2. In order to grant a guest access to your finances and/or academic records, then you can set up a guest FERPA Secure PIN for up to three guests. To proceed, review the FERPA information and then check the box stating "I Accept These Terms." 

3. You will see three boxes appear for up to three guests to have guest FERPA Secure PINs. In each box, you can enter in the guest's name next to Name. Then click on Set PIN to generate a six-digit number associated to that specific guest and check the boxes labeled as Finances and/or Academic Records depending on what you would like them to have access to overall. Afterwards, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Save in order to save your FERPA Secure PIN settings.    

• *Note: You can always change the names, PINs and what you want your guests access to by editing the Name field, checking or unchecking the Finances and/or Academic Records boxes and clicking on Set PIN again to change the PIN. However, don't forget to click on Save after making any changes to save your FERPA Secure PIN settings for your guests.
