Okta — Set Up Okta Verify on Android

Step-by-step instructions for installing and setting up the Okta Verify app on an Android device, including how to add your UWL account, optionally disable biometrics, and verify your identity using push notifications or a one-time code.

Step 1: Install and Set Up Okta Verify

Download Okta Verify for Android (opens in new tab) from the Google Play Store.

Note: If you are prompting a QR code, you will need the QR code be on the computer for you to scan it on your phone.  Proceed with steps 1-7 and then scroll down to "Scan For QR Code."

  1. Tap Install.

  2. Once installed, tap Open.

  3. Tap Get Started.

  5. Tap Add Account.

  6. Select Organization as your account type.

  7. Tap Skip to proceed without signing in with a different method.

  8. Type in the URL Code: myapps.uwlax.edu

  9. Sign into your UWL account with your Username (NetID) or Email and password.

  10. Enable Push Notification.

  11. Face ID and Biometrics is up to your preference.

Scan for QR Code

  1. Tap Yes, Ready to Scan, then scan the QR code on your computer. Your account will be added automatically.

  2. Tap Done. Your account has been added.

Step 2: Disable Biometrics (Optional)

If you prefer not to use biometric verification, you can turn it off on the Account details page.

  1. Go to the Options section and turn off Use biometrics.

  2. When prompted, verify your identity with biometrics to confirm the change.

Verifying Your Identity with Okta

Once Okta Verify is set up, you will be prompted to verify your identity when logging in to UWL accounts. You have two options:

Option 1: Send Push (requires internet access)

  1. Tap Send Push on the Okta sign-in screen.

  2. Open the Okta Verify notification on your phone and tap Yes, It's Me.

Option 2: Enter a Code (no internet access needed)

  1. On the Okta sign-in screen, tap Verify with something else.

  2. Select Enter a Code.

  3. Open the Okta Verify app, copy the current code, enter it on the sign-in screen, and tap Verify.
