SPSS — macOS Sonoma Patch (Versions 29.0.1.0 and 29.0.1.1)

SPSS, IBM SPSS Statistics, macOS Sonoma, patch, fix, 29.0.1.0, 29.0.1.1, libplatdep.dylib, Show Package Contents, Finder

Note: This patch applies to SPSS versions 29.0.1.0 and 29.0.1.1 only. Version 29.0.2.0 and later have already fixed this issue — no patch is needed if you are on a newer version.

  1. Open SPSS and look at the version number in the upper-left corner of the splash screen:

  2. Download the patch file that matches your version. Both files require a UWL login and download as a .zip file:

  3. Close the SPSS program.

  4. Open the SharePoint link and click the Download button in the upper-left corner of the page:

  5. Navigate to the download location. In Chrome, click the folder icon in the downloads bar to reveal the file in Finder:

  6. Double-click the .zip file to extract its contents into a folder.

  7. Navigate to your Applications folder, then open the IBM SPSS Statistics folder. Right-click on SPSS Statistics and select Show Package Contents:

  8. Open the Contents folder, then open the lib folder:

  9. With the lib folder open, also open the downloaded and extracted patch folder. Drag the libplatdep.dylib file from the patch folder into the lib folder:

  10. When prompted about replacing the existing file, click Replace:

  11. Open SPSS Statistics. If it was already open, quit and reopen it. The program should now be fully functional on macOS Sonoma.
