Excel — Add the Data Analysis ToolPak or Solver Add-In

Important: These steps must be completed in the standalone Excel desktop app. This is not available in the Excel web version.

Note: The standard Add-ins option in Excel shows the XL Miner ToolPak, which is not the same as the Data Analysis ToolPak. The Add-ins menu also links to the Microsoft Store, which is blocked on UWL-managed computers. Use the steps below instead.

Windows

1. Open Excel and click File (or Home on older versions).
2. Click Options.
3. Click Add-ins in the left sidebar.
4. At the bottom of the window, make sure the Manage box is set to Excel Add-ins, then click Go.
5. In the Add-ins dialog, check the box for Analysis ToolPak and/or Solver.
6. Click OK.
7. Restart Excel. The Data Analysis option will now appear on the Data tab.

Mac

1. Open an Excel document.
2. Click the Data tab in the ribbon.
3. Click the Analysis Tools gear icon on the right side of the ribbon.
4. Check the box for Analysis ToolPak and/or Solver.
5. Click OK. The Data Analysis option will now appear on the Data tab.
