Wireless - Find the MAC address on common devices
Find the MAC address on your device to register it with the UWL network. This article provides step-by-step instructions for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, macOS, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 3/4/5, Roku, Steam Deck, Windows 11, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and other smart TVs.
To register a device on the UWL network, you will need its MAC address. Jump to your device category below, or scroll to find your device.
- Streaming Devices — Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV / Stick, Roku
- Computers — macOS, Windows 11, Steam Deck
- Gaming Consoles — Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox

Streaming Devices
Apple TV
- Go to the main menu and select "Settings"
- Select "General" then select "About"
- Look for "Wi-Fi Address"

Amazon Fire TV / Stick
- From the Main Menu go to Settings
- Select "System"
- Then go to "About"
- Toggle down to Network
- Look for the MAC Address (Wi-Fi)

Roku
- Go to Settings and press OK
- Select "System" and press OK
- Then select "About" and press OK
- You will then see the MAC address for both the wireless and wired connection depending on the device

Computers
macOS
- Go to "System Settings"
- Select "Network" and then "Wi-Fi"
- Scroll to the bottom and select "Advanced..." in the bottom right
- Look for "Wi-Fi MAC Address"

Windows 11
- Go to "Settings"
- Select "Network & internet" on the left-hand side
- Select "Wi-Fi" and then "Hardware properties"
- Look for "Physical address (MAC):"

Steam Deck
- Press the Steam button and select "Settings"
- Select "Internet"
- Select your connected network, "UWL-Eagle"
- You will find your MAC address towards the bottom of the pane that appears
Gaming Consoles
Nintendo Wii U
- From the Wii U Menu, select "System Settings"
- Using the left stick select the "Internet" icon and press the A button
- Select "View MAC Address" and wait a moment for the MAC address to be displayed

Nintendo Switch
- Navigate to "System Settings" on the home screen
- In "System Settings," navigate to "Internet" > "Internet Settings"
- Your MAC address will be displayed under "Connection Status"

Nintendo Switch 2
Steps are the same as Nintendo Switch above.
- Navigate to "System Settings" on the home screen
- In "System Settings," navigate to "Internet" > "Internet Settings"
- Your MAC address will be displayed under "Connection Status"
PlayStation 3
- From the home menu go to Settings > System Settings and press the X button
- Scroll down until you see "System Information" and press the X button
- You will then see your MAC address

PlayStation 4
- Navigate to the "Settings" icon
- Select "System"
- Select "System Information"
- You will then see both MAC addresses listed (one for Wi-Fi and one for LAN cable)

PlayStation 5
- Go to "Settings"
- Select "System"
- Go to "System Software" and then "Console Information"
- Look for "MAC address (Wi-Fi)"

Xbox 360
- Navigate to My Xbox on the Xbox Dashboard
- Select System Settings
- Select Networking Settings
- Select Configure Network
- Go to Additional Settings
- Select Advanced Settings
- The MAC address for the wired and wireless adapters will then be displayed

Xbox One
- Navigate to "My Games & Apps"
- Select "Settings" then "All Settings"
- In the settings pane, select "Network" then "Network Settings"
- Select "Advanced Settings"
- You will see both wired and wireless MAC addresses listed

Xbox Series X/S
- Go to "Settings"
- Under General, select "Network settings" and then "Advanced settings"
- Look for "Wireless MAC" under "IP Settings"

Smart TVs & Other Devices
Due to the large number of vendors for these devices we do not provide specific instructions. We do offer these suggestions:
- Look in the Settings menu on the device, either in the About or Networking section if applicable
- Check the manufacturer's website or documentation
