Duo - Adding a Device
Duo's device management process makes it easy to add additional devices to your account.
*Supported Browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer 8 or later, and Opera.
- Option 1: Adding a Device From the Duo Device Management Portal
- Option 2: Adding a Device From the Duo Prompt
1. On a computer, go to the Duo Device Management Portal at https://www.uwlax.edu/info/password-reset then click Duo Device and sign in.

Click on Add another device.
2. Choose Your Authentication Device Type
Select the type of device you'd like to enroll and click Continue. We recommend using a smartphone for the best experience (Choose Mobile phone), but you can also enroll iOS/Android tablets and Cell Phones (Choose Mobile Phone).
3. Type Your Phone Number
Select your country from the drop-down list and type your phone number. Use the number of your smart phone/cell phone that you'll have with you when you're logging in to a Duo-protected service.
Then double-check that you entered it correctly, check the box, and click Continue. If you're enrolling a tablet you aren't prompted to enter a phone number.
If you receive the following screen you will need to complete setup by following the steps in Duo - Verify Ownership message.
4. Choose Platform

If setting up Duo Mobile and SMS/Text choose one of the first 3 options below then click Continue and go to Step 5 below.
If setting up for SMS/Text Messages ONLY choose Other (and cell phones), click Continue and go to Step 7 below.
Duo Mobile is an app that runs on your smartphone and helps you authenticate quickly and easily. During setup of Duo Mobile, please make sure to to "Allow Notifications" and "Allow Access to Your Camera" if prompted. If notifications are turned off for Duo Mobile you will not receive notifications when trying to login. If Duo Mobile does not have access to your camera you cannot complete the setup (after setup you may disable access to the camera for Duo Mobile).
Follow the platform-specific instructions on the screen to install Duo Mobile. After installing Duo Mobile return to the enrollment window and click I have Duo Mobile installed.
6. Activate Duo Mobile
Activating the app links it to your account so you can use it for authentication.
On iPhone, Android, and Windows Phone activate Duo Mobile by scanning the barcode with the app's built-in barcode scanner. Follow the platform specific instructions for your device:
The Continue button is clickable after you scan the barcode successfully.
*Can't scan the barcode? Click on have an activation link email to you instead and follow the instructions.
If you are using your mobile device to enroll it, then you can select Take me to Duo Mobile and that should open up the Duo Mobile App in order to complete activation/enrollment of your mobile phone. Or, select via activation code or Email me an activation link instead and follow the instructions.
You can use Device Options to give your phone a more descriptive name, or you can click Add another device to start the enrollment process again and add a second phone or another authenticator.
If this is the device you'll use most often with Duo then you may want to enable automatic push requests by changing the When I log in: option and changing the setting from "Ask me to choose an authentication method" to "Automatically send this device a Duo Push" and click Save. With the automatic push option enabled Duo automatically sends an authentication request via push notification to the Duo Mobile app on your smartphone.
When done, click Finish Enrollment.
8. Congratulations, you are all done!
*Note: If you are logging into the Duo portal with a new mobile phone that needs Duo Mobile activated and it has the same phone number as your old mobile phone, then select Enter a passcode and select Text me new codes to retrieve a Duo passcode to enter in instead. However, if your new mobile phone has a new phone number and you have no other way of obtaining a passcode to login, then you will have to contact the Eagle Help Desk for further assistance.
