Account - Password Reset Help - Retiree & Emeriti Eagle Email
Important:
- Your Eagle account is a Gmail account, so the password reset process is the same as resetting a personal Gmail account.
- These Gmail accounts are only meant for those who have retired with emeritus status and have requested them through Human Resources (opens in new tab).
Change Password
-
Go to the Gmail homepage (opens in new tab) and click Sign in.
Note: You may be redirected to the Google Sign In page right away instead.
-
Type your full Eagle email address (including @eagle.uwlax.edu) and click Next.

-
Enter your password and click Next.

-
Navigate to your Google Account. In the upper right corner of the page, click the circle showing your initials or profile photo, then click Manage your Google Account.
Or click Google apps (the grid of 9 dots in the upper right corner), then click Account.

-
Click the Security tab in the left navigation column.

-
Under the Signing in to Google section, click Password.
Note: You can also see when you last changed your password here.
-
Re-enter your current password to verify your identity and click Next.

-
Create your new password, confirm it, and click Change Password.

Your password has been successfully changed when you see a confirmation on the next page.
Recover Password
-
Go to the Gmail homepage (opens in new tab) and click Sign in.
Note: You may be redirected to the Google Sign In page right away instead.
-
Type your full Eagle email address (including @eagle.uwlax.edu) and click Next.

-
Click Forgot password?

-
Follow the prompts to recover your account. This may include entering a previous password or receiving a verification code by phone or recovery email.

Note: If you did not set up password recovery options before forgetting your password, or if you see the message "Contact your domain admin for help," you will need to contact the Eagle Help Desk.

If you successfully verify your identity, you will be prompted to create a new password and can then sign in with it.
Setting Up Password Recovery Options
We strongly recommend setting up recovery options while you still have access to your account. This allows you to recover your password on your own in the future.
-
Sign into your Eagle email account and navigate to your Google Account.

-
Click the Security tab in the left navigation column.

-
Scroll down to the Ways we can verify it's you section and click Recovery phone and/or Recovery email to add them.

-
Re-enter your password to verify your identity and click Next.

-
Enter or edit your recovery phone number and/or recovery email address.

Once your recovery options are saved, you will be able to recover your Eagle email password on your own if you ever forget it.
