SPSS for Students MacOS Sonoma fix

This document shows how to patch SPSS to work with MacOS Sonoma

This is for versions 29.0.1.0 and 29.0.1.1 - 29.0.2.0 has FIXED this

Open SPSS, and look at the version in the upper-left corner of the splash screen:

spss version

For version 29.0.1.0, click this link: Sonoma fix for SPSS 29.0.1.0

For version 29.0.1.1, click this link: Sonoma fix for SPSS 29.0.1.1

Close the SPSS program.

Open the link, and click the Download button in the upper left:

Navigate to the download location - shown here is Chrome, where you can click the folder icon to show the download in Finder:

Double-click on the the .zip file, and it should extract the contents into a folder.

Then navigate to your Applications folder -> IBM SPSS Statistics.  In there, right-click on SPSS Statistics and Show Package Contents:

Open the Contents folder, and open the lib folder:

With the lib folder open, open the downloaded & extracted patch folder, and drag the libplatdep.dylib file into the lib folder:

drag and drop to lib folder

When it alerts about the old version, click Replace:

replace old

Open up SPSS Statistics - if it's still open from before, quit and re-open.  The program should be functional now.
