Creating a VoiceThread Assignment in Canvas

  1. Log into Canvas and navigate to your course.
  2. From the course navigation menu on the left, click Assignments.
  3. On the Assignments page, click the + Assignments button on the upper-right part of the page.
  4. Name the assignment. Create a description of the assignment and provide instructions. Set the number of points you want the assignment to be worth.
  5. The Display grades as setting must be set to Points, Percentage, or something else that involves a score. If it is set to Not Graded, the VoiceThread option will disappear. The number of points may be set to zero if this is not going to be graded.
  6. The Submission Type must be set to External Tool.
  7. Click the Find button in the Submission Type box. Then scroll down to VoiceThread, select it, and finally click the Select
  8. Click the Save button at the bottom of the page.
  9. You will then be taken to a new page titled VoiceThread Setup.

This provides four options: Course View, Home, Individual VT, and Assignment Builder. You may select the one you want and proceed through VoiceThread in setting up your assignment.
