Campus Technology Transformation — Device Categories and Next Steps

Explains the five device categories used in the UWL IT inventory Tableau report and describes the appropriate action for each, including upgrade paths, replacement requests, and CCRP devices already in process.

The main contacts for each department have access to their full IT inventory in Tableau at the UWL Technology Inventory — Department Dashboard (opens in new tab). If you feel you should have access, please contact your dedicated ITS Client Services Representative.

In this report, devices are broken into the following categories:

Do Nothing

Device is in good order and no action is needed at this time.

Upgrade to Windows 11

If this device is still needed, upgrade it to Windows 11 — see How to Check if Your Computer Can Be Upgraded to Windows 11 (opens in new tab). If it is no longer needed, see Replace and/or Request IT Remove below.

Upgrade to macOS Sonoma

If this device is still needed, upgrade it to macOS Sonoma. If it is no longer needed, see Replace and/or Request IT Remove below.

Replace and/or Request IT Remove

  • Device still needed? If you need multiple devices replaced, compile a list and work with your ITS Client Services Representative to determine next steps. New devices can be purchased on the UWL Technology Purchase Page (opens in new tab). Devices that are replaced must be returned to ITS.
  • Device no longer needed? Submit a ticket (opens in new tab) and include a list of all devices you want ITS to remove.

Replace Through CCRP

These devices are already in process to be replaced. Work with your dedicated ITS Client Services Representative.
