Account - Change your password

This is the process to reset your password if it's forgotten, expired, or you just need to change it.

Reset Your Password

  1. Right-click this link and select "Open in Incognito Window" (or "Private Window"): Wings Login
  2. Enter your UW email (or NetID) and click Next:

  3. Click Forgot Password:

  4. Click Send Me an Email. This sends a reset code to your UW email and any alternate email you've added to Okta.

  5. Choose how to get your verification code:
    • Option A: Check your email (UW or alternate) for the reset code. Check your junk folder if you don't see it.
    • Option B: Click "Enter a Verification Code Instead" to display the code in your browser.

  6. Enter the verification code:

  7. Complete the Okta MFA (multi-factor authentication) step:

  8. Create your new password. Your password must (full password requirements):
    • Be at least 14 characters long
    • Include uppercase and lowercase letters
    • Include at least one number
    • Include at least one special character (!@#$%^&*)
    • Not contain your NetID or name

  9. Create your new password:

    Note: If off-campus, you may see an "Unauthorized" page when complete. This is normal—just close the browser window.

For Faculty Off-Campus

To sync your new password with your department computer:

  1. Connect to VPN: PC Guide | Mac Guide
  2. Lock your screen (Mac: Apple Menu → Lock Screen | PC: Ctrl + Alt + Del → Lock)
  3. Unlock with your new password
