Account - Password Requirements
The requirements for creating or changing a UWL account password, including minimum length, character types, and restrictions on reuse and incrementing.
Password Requirements
Your UWL account password must meet all of the following requirements:
- At least 14 characters long
- Contains at least 3 of the following 4 character types:
- Uppercase letters
- Lowercase letters
- Numbers
- Special characters (#, @, %, etc.)
- Does not contain your first name, last name, or NetID
- Cannot be an incremented version of your previous password — for example, EaglesRule!21 cannot be changed to EaglesRule!22
- Cannot be a previously used password
Note: Passwords expire after 1 year (365 days).
Note: Seeing the "Your passwords match!" message during the reset process does not mean your password meets the complexity or history requirements. If your password is rejected after matching, try a different password that meets all the requirements above.
