Stellic - Advisor Guide - Try A Program on a Student

Advisors who would like to try a program on a student can do so directly within Stellic. Students can also utilize Stellic to "try on" programs to see how existing coursework and degree requirements are impacted. See the KnowledgeBase article on Stellic Guide for Student Explore and Add a Program on the Records & Registration website for more information. Note that only advisors (not students) are able to try on a different general education program on a student.

This option is best used for a quick "try-on" of a program, to view the program (general education/major/minor/certificate) requirements and how the student’s completed or in progress courses would count toward the new program.

  1. Log into Stellic (https://stellic.uwlax.edu/)
  2. Select Programs on the left-hand menu. You will see a page with tiles for every program available to students at UWL.
    • Note: Users can type in the Keyword field to narrow down their search. Users can also use the filters of Offered By, Type, or Level to narrow their search results.

  3. Select the title of any program to be able to apply it to a student. Select Try on a student.

    • Note: The try on a student button might appear differently depending on the program you choose.

  4. Type in the student’s name or ID number in the box that opens and select the student. You will see the audit added to that student’s list of program audits. The new program audit that you applied is typically listed last in the student’s programs, so you must scroll down to see it, including if you chose a new gen ed program.

  5. Select Programs on the left-hand menu to be returned to your search to choose the requirements of another program to try on a student.

Notes:

  • If a student is seriously considering declaring the program, the student must fill out the Change of Major/Minor/Certificate form found on the Records & Registration website to officially add the program.
  • The pictures included in this tutorial may demonstrate using Stellic in Privacy Mode, which removes a student's personal identifying information. You can enable/disable this mode in your version of Stellic using the key combination of Control-Shift-P.
