Account - Remotely Changing Your Password on a UWL-Owned PC or Mac

Steps to take when changing your password on your UWL-owned PC or Mac while working off-campus.

To ensure the smoothest password change with your UWL-owned computer/device while working off-campus, please use the following steps below:

UW-L Owned PC

  1. Connect to the VPN called "Cisco AnyConnect" on your device.
  2. Follow the steps in Password Reset Help
    • Click the Windows logo on the menu bar, click User icon then click Lock (or with the Windows Logo key + L) then sign in using your newly created password to sync your PC's login password.

    UW-L Owned Mac

    1. Connect to the VPN called "Cisco AnyConnect" on your device.
    2. Open and sign into the Enterprise Connect App to change your password.
      • Important Note: DO NOT use the password reset page to change your password with your UWL-owned Mac, unless you are dealing with an expired or forgotten password.
    3. Click the Apple in the upper left corner, click Lock Screen (or with control + command + Q) then sign in using your newly created password to sync your Mac's login password.
click to right corner apple, then lock screen

Help prevent errors after a password change:

    • Clear your web browsers' "all time" history, cache and cookies
    • Update or clear out any "saved" passwords for your UWL accounts on your device(s). These could include:
      • Keychain (Mac, iOS),
      • Your web browsers' saved passwords that you use to access UWL-based services,
      • Any saved passwords within UWL applications that are downloaded onto your device (i.e. Outlook, Office 365, etc...).
