Wireless - Forgetting a Wireless Network

Learn how to forget the UWL-Eagle or UWL-Guest wireless network on your device and reconnect. This is a common first step when troubleshooting Wi-Fi connection issues on campus. Instructions are provided for macOS, iOS, Windows 10, Windows 11, and Android devices.

Having trouble connecting to UWL-Eagle or UWL-Guest? Forgetting the network and reconnecting is one of the most effective ways to fix Wi-Fi issues on campus. Choose your device type below to get started.

macOS (Apple Laptop)

  1. Step 1: Click the Wi-Fi symbol at the top of your screen and select Open Network Preferences.
  2. Step 2: In the lower-right corner, click Advanced.
  3. Step 3: Under Preferred Networks, select UWL-Eagle or UWL-Guest.
  4. Step 4: Click the minus (-) button to forget the network.
  5. Step 5: Click OK.
  6. Step 6: Try reconnecting to UWL-Eagle or UWL-Guest.

iOS (Apple iPhone or iPad)

  1. Step 1: From the home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Step 2: Tap Wi-Fi.
  3. Step 3: Locate UWL-Eagle or UWL-Guest and tap the blue info symbol next to the name.

From here, you have two options depending on what you see:

  • If you see "Forget This Network": Tap it, then try reconnecting to UWL-Eagle or UWL-Guest.
  • If you don't see "Forget This Network": The network may be installed as a profile. Follow these steps to remove it:
    1. Go back to Settings and tap General.
    2. Locate and tap Profile.
    3. Select the profile for UWL-Eagle or UWL-Guest.
    4. Tap Delete Profile.
    5. Try reconnecting to UWL-Eagle or UWL-Guest.

Windows 10

  1. Step 1: Click the Network icon in the lower-right corner of your screen.
  2. Step 2: Choose Network Settings.
  3. Step 3: Click Manage Wi-Fi Settings.
  4. Step 4: Under Manage Known Networks, select UWL-Eagle or UWL-Guest.
  5. Step 5: Click Forget.
  6. Step 6: Try reconnecting to UWL-Eagle or UWL-Guest.

Windows 11

  1. Step 1: Right-click the Network icon in the lower-right corner of your screen.
  2. Step 2: Choose Network Settings.
  3. Step 3: Click the Wi-Fi banner.
  4. Step 4: Click Manage Known Networks.
  5. Step 5: Next to UWL-Eagle or UWL-Guest, click Forget.
  6. Step 6: Try reconnecting to UWL-Eagle or UWL-Guest.

Android

  1. Step 1: From the home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Step 2: Tap Wi-Fi.
  3. Step 3: Locate UWL-Eagle or UWL-Guest and tap or press and hold it.
  4. Step 4: Tap Forget.
  5. Step 5: Try reconnecting to UWL-Eagle or UWL-Guest.
