Wireless - Connecting to UWL-Eagle WiFi (Android and Chrome OS)
This article explains how to connect Android and Chrome OS devices to the UWL-Eagle Wi-Fi network. Menu arrangement may vary depending on your device brand.
You will need your UWL NetID and password to complete these steps. If you don't have your NetID yet, visit the NetID and Password Setup article first.
Important: Before connecting, go to the bottom of the Wi-Fi settings and make sure Use Device MAC or Use Phone MAC is selected — do not use Randomized MAC. Not all devices show this setting.
-
Locate Wi-Fi in Settings and tap it.

-
Select UWL-Eagle from the list of available networks.

-
Configure the following network settings:
- For EAP method, select PEAP
- For Phase 2 authentication, select MSCHAPV2 — on newer Android devices this may be under Advanced
- For CA certificate, select Don't validate or Do not validate. On some Pixel devices with no "Not Validate" option, select Use System Certificate and enter uwlax.edu as the domain

-
For Identity, enter your NetID. Your NetID is the first part of your UWL email address without the "@uwlax.edu" part.

-
Leave Anonymous identity blank.

-
For Password, enter your UWL password.

-
Tap Connect.
Note: If your device does not connect, go to the Privacy setting for Wi-Fi and confirm Use Device MAC or Use Phone MAC is selected. If that does not work, try selecting Randomized MAC Address and then tap Connect again.
If You See a Domain Field
Some Android devices (including newer Samsung Galaxy models) display a Domain field in the Wi-Fi settings. If you see this field, enter uwlax.edu before proceeding.

Chromebook
The same connection steps above apply to Chromebooks. Note the following differences:
- Wi-Fi settings are found at the bottom right of the desktop in the system tray, not in a Settings app
- After connecting, make sure Allow other users of this device to use this network is toggled on

Linux
Use the same connection settings as Android — EAP method PEAP, Phase 2 authentication MSCHAPV2, CA certificate set to not validate, and your NetID and password for Identity and Password. The interface will look similar to the image below, though it may vary between Linux distributions.
