Wireless - Connecting to UWL-Eagle WiFi - Troubleshooting Techniques

Troubleshooting techniques that you could try if you are experiencing a connection issue or unable to connect to the UWL-Eagle WiFi while on campus:

Important:

If you are not a UWL student or a UWL employee, then you will be unable to connect to UWL-Eagle, so you will need to connect to UWL-Guest instead

  1. Try the "Wireless - Connecting" articles: See https://kb.uwlax.edu/search.php?q=wifi.

  2. Turn off your WiFi: Then turn it back on again. Verify Airplane Mode is turned off (it will not allow you connect to internet).
  3. Verify you have the UWL-Eagle network selected: If UWL-Guest network could be accidentally selected. Also, check your network settings to make sure UWL-Guest is not set to automatically connect.

  4. Forget UWL-Eagle: Then reconnect with your NetID and password. See Wireless - Forgetting a Wireless Network

  5. Unlock your account: If your account is locked out, then you will be unable to join the UWL-Eagle network. See Account - How to Unlock Your Account

  6. Expired Password or "incorrect username and/or password" message: Reset your password, see Account - Password Reset Help

  7. Restart your device.

  8. Install Updates: Apply any pending software or hardware updates to your device. This may include making sure that you have the most up-to-date network driver installed for your computer.

  9. Possible IT Issue: Check WiFi status at http://status.uwlax.edu/. Also, check any emails from ITS regarding WiFi/Internet outages on-campus.
