Okta — Set Up Okta Verify on a University-Issued iPhone or iPad
How to install and set up Okta Verify on a university-issued iPhone or iPad managed by UWL ITS through mobile device management (MDM). Covers installing Okta Verify through the Self Service app, signing in with your NetID, enabling notifications, and completing enrollment. This process differs from personal device setup — do not install from the App Store directly.
Follow these steps to set up Okta Verify on a university-issued iPhone or iPad managed by UWL ITS. This process differs from personal device setup — Okta Verify is installed through the Self Service app rather than the App Store directly.
Note: This process is for devices enrolled in UWL ITS mobile device management (MDM). If you are setting up Okta Verify on a personal iPhone or iPad, see Okta — Set Up Okta Verify on iPhone or iPad instead.
Before You Begin
- Your UWL account must already be activated
- Your device must be enrolled in UWL ITS mobile device management (MDM)
- You will need your NetID and UWL password
- The Self Service app must be installed on your device — contact the Eagle Help Desk if it is not present
Install Okta Verify via Self Service
- Open the Self Service app on your university-issued iOS device. Self Service is pre-installed on all ITS-managed devices.
- Sign in to Self Service using your UWL NetID and password.
- Find Okta Verify in the available applications list and tap Install.
- Open Okta Verify after installation completes. The app will automatically configure with university settings.
- Sign in when prompted using your NetID and password.
- Tap Allow when prompted to enable notifications — this is required for push authentication.
- Approve the test notification to verify setup.
Your university device is now enrolled. University-owned devices have specific policies and restrictions managed by ITS. Contact the Eagle Help Desk if you experience any issues.
