Okta — Set Up Okta Verify on iPhone or iPad

How to install and set up Okta Verify on a personal iPhone or iPad for UWL two-factor authentication. Covers downloading from the App Store, adding your UWL account using your NetID, enabling push notifications, and approving the test notification to complete enrollment.

Follow these steps to set up Okta Verify on your personal iPhone or iPad. Complete this after you have activated your UWL account and created your password. If you have not done that yet, see Okta — Initial Setup for Two-Factor Authentication first.

Before You Begin

  • Your UWL account must already be activated
  • You will need your NetID and the password you created during activation
  • Allow 3–5 minutes to complete setup

Install and Set Up Okta Verify

  1. Download Okta Verify from the App Store:

  2. Open Okta Verify on your iPhone or iPad.
  3. Tap Add Account at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Choose Organization from the options presented.
  5. When prompted "Do you have a QR code?", tap No, Sign In Instead.
  6. Enter your organization: myapps.uwlax.edu
  7. Sign in using your UWL NetID and password.
  8. Tap Allow when prompted to enable notifications — this is required for push authentication.
  9. Approve the test notification to complete setup.

Your iPhone or iPad is now ready to authenticate UWL logins. You can add additional backup devices such as a laptop or tablet by following the Windows and macOS setup guide (opens in new tab).
